Beth Hicklin Land is a senior consultant with McCallum Sweeney Consulting, providing site selection services and economic development consulting to companies and organizations worldwide. Ms. Land joined McCallum Sweeney Consulting in September 2014. Beth graduated from NHS in 2005.
Presently, Ms. Land is providing site evaluation and labor analysis on major site location projects. She is also managing the site readiness program for Duke Energy as well as the site certification programs for the South Carolina Department of Commerce and the mega site program for the Tennessee Valley Authority.
Ms. Land’s professional experience includes three years as a project manager for York County Economic Development working to recruit new business investment to York County. During her time there, Ms. Land was responsible for bringing more than $655 million in capital investment and more than 8,000 new jobs to the County. Notable companies she recruited from 2011 to 2014 included LPL Financial (headquarters), Lash Group (headquarters), Exel (distribution), Shutterfly (manufacturing), UC Synergetic (headquarters), Ross (distribution), and Britax Childcare Safety, Inc. (manufacturing). In addition to business recruitment, Ms. Land worked with local stakeholders and utility providers to develop new property for industrial development and a rolling speculative building program. Ms. Land was also instrumental in the formation of the South Carolina I-77 Alliance.
Ms. Land’s prior experience also includes time in the aerospace manufacturing industry. Before joining York County, Beth was the Project Manager at Avenger Aircraft and Services in Greenville, South Carolina. Her primary responsibilities included managing machine operations and manufacturing projects, and ensuring that all products were compliant with FAA regulations and customer specifications. Additionally, Ms. Land oversaw the implementation of ISO 9001 and AS9100C certifications. Later, as Director of Sales, she was responsible for all domestic and international marketing efforts, working with customers such as Lufthansa Technik on the Lockheed Super Constellation restoration project.
Ms. Land has a Masters in Business Administration from Wake Forest University and graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, Phi Beta Kappa. While at Clemson, she also minored in German and received the Draexlmaier Automotive Award for dedicated inquiry in German studies. She has also earned her accreditation as a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) through the International Economic Development Council.
