Tianna Barnes is a 2011 alumna of Northwestern High School. Raised in Rock Hill, SC, she also attended Ebinport Elementary and Sullivan Middle School. After high school, Tianna matriculated to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating with honors in 2015. Double majoring in Psychology and Gender Studies, she also served as a relationship and sexual assault peer educator, vice president of the Health Occupation Students of America, research director of the Movement of Youth mentoring program, and a McNair Scholar. Upon receiving her bachelors, Tianna was directly accepted into a doctoral program at the Carlson School of Management in Minneapolis, MN to study identity and diversity related topics within the field of organizational behavior. She is currently in her 3rd year as a PhD Candidate. In her 3 years, Tianna has taught undergraduate courses around organizational psychology and guest lectured for MBA students on workplace diversity. She has presented at various research conferences and won several grants to continue her projects on the minority employee experience. She is also currently serving as the vice president of the Management Doctoral Student Association which is a national organization that serves business management students who identify as African American, Latino/a, or Native American. Currently working on her dissertation, Tianna plans to graduate from her 5-year program by May of 2020 and become a business management professor in her field.
