I was born and raised in Mt. Pleasant, SC in Charleston County. As a graduate of Winthrop University in 1998 with a BA in English and a minor in Secondary Education, I began my teaching career at Northwestern High School. Later, I graduated from Columbia College with a Master's of Education in Divergent Learning in 2011 in order to pursue my desire to individualize instruction for different learning styles. I have enjoyed teaching a wide variety of English courses and electives at Northwestern such as AP Language and Composition and Creative Writing I & II.  Additionally, I have had the privilege of advising the Visions Literary Magazine since 1998 and am currently the English department chair.
