Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Amber Wilburn

My name is Amber Wilburn. I am a native of Rock Hill. I attended Lesslie Elementary, Castle Heights Middle School, and I graduated from Rock Hill High School. I attended York Technical College and earned an Associates Degree in Early Care and Education. I also attended Winthrop University in pursuit of a degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. I have been with Rock Hill School District for 27 years. I began by serving Native American students through a grant written by the district. Since then, I have spent the majority of my service at Independence Elementary school…mainly serving as a Kindergarten Assistant.

I have been happily married to my husband, Stan, for 39 years. Together, we have two wonderful children, Ryan and Stephanie. I have been blessed with two beautiful granddaughters, Harper and Jade, and two handsome grandsons, Tony and Elias.

Although times have changed and administrators and teachers have come and gone throughout my time here…. Independence will always feel like home, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to serve the students within my community. I am looking forward to a new year here at Independence working as a Kindergarten Assistant with an amazing teacher – Ms. Tanasia Whitlock . She is a ray of sunshine in our classroom. Her love for teaching shines brightly as she radiates positivity each day. She motivates and inspires me to be the best I can possibly be.
