Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Kimberly Simpson

My name is Kim Simpson. This will be my 32nd year as an educator in Rock Hill School District. I received my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from College of Charleston in 1991 and my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Early Childhood Education from Winthrop University in 2005. I taught first and second grade at Lesslie Elementary School from 1993-2008. I then transferred to Mount Holly Elementary School where I taught first and second grade, Reading Recovery, and served as a Literacy Coach. In 2022, I retired after 29 years and returned as a Kindergarten Assistant at Independence Elementary School. I love being able to assist Mrs. Hager and play a part in teaching our kindergarten students how to read, write, develop a passion for learning, and build leadership skills.

I have been married for 31 years to Brown Simpson. We have two grown daughters, Allison Hannah and Margaret. We have five cats – Kitty, Ellie, Echo, Shadow, and Glen! Outside of school, I like to spend time with family, travel when the opportunity presents itself, go on walks, read, watch movies, and spend weekends at Lake Wateree.
