Ahoy there!  I am Ms. Carey, and I am the Music Teacher at India Hook Elementary. This will be my fourth year as a Pirate!  I taught at Rosewood Elementary (Go Lions!) for 11 years.  I’m originally from Michigan and received my bachelor’s degree from Grand Valley State University.  I moved to South Carolina in 2010.  I have my master’s degree in music education from Winthrop University and have hosted several music education interns. 

 

I want my students to have an amazing musical experience every time we see each other.  The joy of making music together with instruments, singing, or using movement will fuel their appreciation for music throughout their lives.  Students will show off their musical skills in performances, instrument showcases, talent shows, and much more.   

 

I have four kitties at home; Skecher, Tipper, Pepper and Mr. Foster.  I love cats so much that I opened Rock Hill's first cat cafe, Purrfect Pair Cat Cafe.  I also love to go to concerts and Broadway shows in Charlotte, North Carolina.  I love to visit with family and friends all across the US, and see other cat cafes on road trips!
