Welcome to Mrs. Derr’s class! I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in second grade myself! This is my 16th year teaching in Rock Hill. I have taught in four different schools, but I really love Mt. Gallant! I’ve taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Reading Recovery, and Academic Intervention, so my goal is to meet your child where he/she is, and ensure they learn something new each day. I believe students learn best from people they like in environments where they are comfortable, so laughing and barefoot reading on the couch is likely! I have certifications in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Literacy Teaching, and Literacy Coaching from Clemson University. I live right down the road with my husband and two sons, Jordan (12) and Camden (7). Outside of school, I love to be outside–kayaking, hiking, gardening, and playing with my dogs, Neo and Tank.
