Castle Heights Middle School is one of five middle schools in the Rock Hill School District Number Three, located in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Our diverse student population is drawn from a large attendance zone that stretches from the Lancaster County line to the Chester County line.
Our original building at 1234 Flint Street Extension, which now serves as the Flexible Learning Center, was constructed in 1957 as a small elementary school. Beginning with the 2003-2004 school year, Castle Heights was moved into a brand new state of the art facility at 2382 Firetower Road.
Our middle school program includes a Knight Time program, block classes for science, math, social studies, and language arts in addition to a full range of exploratory and elective classes. Our students are scheduled into academic teams. The programs within those teams include grade level and advanced core classes. Each grade level has a computer lab which is used to support curriculum in those classes. Student schedules also provide for two elective/exploratory classes each day. Seventh and Eighth graders are provided the opportunity to select their elective/exploratory classes.
Our students also have the opportunity to be involved with a wide range of extracurricular activities including clubs, service organizations, and an outstanding athletic program. We are proud of the many fine academic programs offered here and the many outstanding achievements of our students and teachers. In 2011 Castle Heights was recognized as a School to Watch by the National Forum and was re-designated as a School to Watch in 2014. Castle Heights was awarded the South Carolina Palmetto Silver award in 2011 and 2012 and in 2013 was awarded the South Carolina Palmetto Gold award.
