After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University, I taught for 2 years in North Carolina, where I started my career as a 5^th grade teacher. After moving to South Carolina, I continued teaching 5^th grade for another 7 years. During that time, I received a master's degree from Grand Canyon University in Literacy and certification in middle grade English Language Arts. 

This is my 10th year teaching, and after teaching fifth grade for 9 years, I have made the switch to 7th grade. My favorite part of teaching is helping my students discover their love of reading and watching them grow as learners. I love books from all genres, but mysteries and suspense novels are my favorites. When I’m not teaching or reading, you can find me traveling, hiking, kayaking, or hanging out with my friends and family.
