Dear Lesslie Elementary Families,
I am honored to be the principal of Lesslie Elementary School! Lesslie Elementary has a rich tradition of being an excellent school in a wonderful community. I am excited for the opportunity to work with you, your children, your community, and the wonderful staff here at Lesslie Elementary.
I grew up in Clover, graduated from Clover High School, and went on to college at the University of South Carolina where I have earned degrees in Journalism and Secondary English Education. I received my Master’s degree in Elementary Administration and Leadership from Clemson University, and my Doctor of Education degree from Gardner-Webb University. I taught high school English in Edgefield and Orangeburg counties early in my career. In 1995, we moved back to York County, and I taught middle level language arts at Rawlinson Road Middle School for five years. I was an Assistant Principal at Rawlinson Road for six years before being named Principal in 2006. Throughout these years, I have developed a passion and love for watching children grow academically and socially, and teachers grow professionally and instructionally.
I have two children, Brenna (Austin) and Austen (Cassandra), and three grandchildren, Josie, Ella and Parks. I live in Rock Hill. My mother still lives in Clover, and I have a brother, Dan, and his wife June who live in Columbia.
I am looking forward to a wonderful school year at Lesslie Elementary, nurturing and growing your children. Working together as a team, I am confident that we will have great success!
Sincerely,
Dr. Jean R. Dickson
