GED Basic Skills Classes
Have you been out of school for awhile and want to brush up on your basic skills in order to get that new job or promotion? We offer basic skills classes in the following subjects: Math, Language Arts, Reading, and Writing. Our caring, qualified instructors understand your fear of going back to school, and are there to help you achieve your dreams and be a success!
GED Test Subjects
The GED® test is made up of 4 subjects, broken into separate exams. You don’t have to take all 4 tests at once - you can space them out however it suits you and go at your own pace. Click on the following link to learn more about each specific test including length, topics & format.
GED COSTS:
South Carolina GED subtests are $37.50 PER GED SUBJECT. ($150 for all 4 subjects)
GED-Ready's are $6.99 per test. SC initiative Scholarship money is available for students who participate and qualify. See qualifications below.
How can I qualify for the South Carolina Initiative Money Scholarship at Rock Hill Adult Ed?
- Complete the 2 days of TABE Assessments in Reading and Math (potentially 3 hours each day)
- Earn a qualifying score on the TABE Assessments.
- Earn 145 or higher on a GED Ready.

GED Preparation (Rock Hill Adult Ed)
The GED Testing Service sets the passing rate for the GED Test in all subjects. The minimum passing score is 145. If you have passed one or more tests, let us help you pass the others!
Students can take classes to prepare for the Reading/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies tests. Excellent teachers work with students to assist them in passing the GED test.
GED preparation classes are held at the Rock Hill Adult Education Center, 501 Belleview Road, Mon-Thu, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and Mondays and Tuesdays evenings from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Enrichment and tutoring opportunities are available from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm Mondays through Thursdays.

** Access to the learning environment includes Math Boot Camps, Calculator Skills training, test-taking skills, Writing, Science and Social Studies workshops. Orientation is held the Monday following the initial 2-days of TABE tests in Reading and Math.
