Ms. Mary Catherine Osborne
Welcome to Music Class!
My name is Mary Catherine Osborne and I am the music educator at Lesslie Elementary School. I earned music degrees from USC (Go Gamecocks!) and Winthrop University. In addition, I have completed all three levels of Orff-Schulwerk Certification. I began teaching elementary music in 2009 in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, where I stayed for seven years before returning to my home town, Rock Hill. I have been teaching music at Lesslie since 2016.
All children at Lesslie experience their music education through the Orff-Schulwerk approach by singing, moving, saying, and playing instruments. By participating in things that children naturally love to do, they gain experiences to foster creativity, future music learning, and music making past their elementary years. On any given day during the school year, we may be singing, folk dancing, moving creatively, reading or writing music, playing the recorder or ukulele, playing barred percussion (Orff) instruments, or a combination of all of them!
