Hello. My name is Elexis Hawkins, and I am very excited to be teaching 5th grade at Independence this year. I am from Blythewood, South Carolina. I graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2017, where I earned a B.A. in Elementary Education. While at Coastal Carolina, I interned in fifth grade, and I really enjoyed working with the age group. I also enjoyed learning and teaching the curriculum. 

 

I taught third grade for half a year in Horry County School District. After that school year, I moved to the Rock Hill School District and went back to teaching fifth grade!  This will be my seventh full year of teaching, and I have taught fifth grade for all seven of those years. 

 

Teaching, for me, is a way to express my love for children and share my passion for learning. My goal is to prepare students for the future and help them to become the best version of themselves.

 

I cannot wait to start this year and meet you all!
